QR Code Link to This Post If you are seeking information on adding a Bulldog to your family there are available resources to assist. For information on the adoption process, and to be placed on the waiting list, please visit www.rescuebulldogs.org. You will be able to fill out an online adoption application.

If you are seeking a well-bred Bulldog puppy, the AKC National Parent Club (The Bulldog Club of America) has a Breeder Referral program in place. The most important aspect of your search should be that your future dog comes from a reputable and ethical breeder who does extensive health testing on their breeding dogs. It is rare that ethical breeders would place their dogs/puppies via local newspapers, or off of an internet website, so using the referral service is a good place to start to find a reputable breeder. Members of our National Parent Club (The Bulldog Club of America) adhere to a strict code of ethics and it states that puppies are not sold in pet shops.

For assistance in locating a Bulldog puppy please visit: http://www.bulldogclubofamerica.org/bca?id=188
Here you will be connected to BCA member breeders who are dedicated to the breed. This is a FREE service.

Another safe place to search for bulldogs without worries from scams is: http://bullynet.com/bulldogpuppiesforsale.aspx. Anyone listing dogs here is a Bulldog Club of America (BCA) member in good standing. Bullynet also has links to bulldog experienced veterinarians across the country and contact information for local bulldog clubs.

Please note:
There is NO SUCH breed called "Miniature English Bulldogs, and "Rare Colored Bulldogs" do NOT conform to the true bulldog breed standard!!! Well bred Bulldogs come ONLY in red, fawn, white, brindle and piebalds of these colors. Any other colors are a considered inferior and are a disqualification. The AKC does not recognize "Miniature Bulldogs" as a known breed. Also, beware of sites advertising "Rare colors" of Bulldogs for sale. The breed standard has a full description of acceptable colors and while "Black/Blue/Tri-colored" dogs are a disqualification - they are ALL highly undesirable colors and do NOT conform to our Breed standard. Buyer beware! These dogs are not rare, and are not worth more $$$...these breeders just want you to think this. The Merle gene does not exist anywhere in the gene pool for The Bulldog! Any "bulldog" advertised as merle has Catahoula mixed into its pedigree several generations back and has hung (lied about) papers.

Beware of bulldogs priced under $2000. Do not send money via bank transfer. Do not agree to have a puppy shipped unless you have done extensive checking to make sure the breeder is legitimate. Beware of sob stories "My daughter just died in a car crash and we need to rehome her puppies ASAP" or "We are moving and need to rehome our beautiful, fully housetrained 10-week old champion sired puppy." These are often scams. Puppies can't legally be sold before 8 weeks of age. Ask yourself who really rehomes the puppy they just bought 2 weeks after buying it? What puppy is fully housetrained that young? NONE! If it sounds fishy run away!

Many bulldog rescue groups are in need of Foster homes- safe & loving place where the dogs can receive TLC & understanding, prior to going to their *Fur-Ever* home:) Foster homes are not required to provide/pay for medical bills or treatment that a rescue dog may need. Breed education & support provided. Visit www.rescuebulldogs.org to find out more.

Best of luck in your!
