I have been around flooring since 1999.
Here's a list of things that I do:
1). Rip out Carpet
2). Scrape off pad glue or staples from pad.
3). Remove tack strips if putting in laminate or vinyl.
4). Haul and dump rubbish.
5). Clean up any Carpet or Pad debris.
6).move furniture.
