QR Code Link to This Post The Miracle of Fatima musical has been produced here and abroad countless times since 2000. The work has been done in English, Spanish and Portuguese in a variety of venue. In 2009 we hired a film company to capture the show at the National Theatre in atlanta under the direction of Luis Marcel Ricart. Luis has produced the show in his country nearly every year since then. What is different about this time is the creation of a virtual set with holographic-like images of the Virgin Mary as she appears to three children as The Lady of Fatima.

This historical event that occurred in 1917 in the small hamlet of Fatima, Portugal captured world attention at the time and still remains as one of the most notable miracle in the history of the Catholic Church. Three children say a beautiful woman from heaven appears to them and that to prove they are telling the truth she will perform a miracle on October 13th that all present will witness. On that day over 70,000 people gather to watch and sure enough the beautiful lady from heaven keeps her word. October 13th, 1917 is know as 'the day the sun danced in Fatima.'

However, this is not a religious production, it is an accurate re-telling of something that happened to three children and the effects it had on them, their families, their neighbors and ultimately the government who was fearful of another uprising.

Synopsis: The children are kidnapped by the Mayor put in prison and threatened with death unless they say it is all lies...there is no lady from heaven. But the children remain silent except the littlest one 7 year-old Jacinta who proclaims 'I would rather die than say it is a lie.'

This work is the masters thesis of Barbara Oleynick from the Graduate Program of Writing Musical Theater from NYU Tisch School of Art in 1999.
