Female Musician Seeking Acoustic Partner (Southwest suburb)

This gal is a rhythm guitarist who until recently was one half of a performing/recording Americana duo. I lost my band mate and really miss having a partner with whom to share the fun of music-making.

I have very basic vocal and guitar abilities and age-wise have had a fair number of trips 'round the sun but I am attractive for my age, positive, creative, fun-loving, hard-working and have a ton of energy, drive, passion and enthusiasm. I sing in key and can do harmony with some work at it. My sweet little Martin and I can lay down a solid rhythm and keep time well.

Just as background:

My former duo partner played lead (acoustic) guitar and was the one who did all the fancy pickin' (riffs and fills) over my strummed chords. We were fortunate to have complimentary voices so traded lead and harmony roles throughout our sets. However, I'm open to all possibilities for instruments and vocal roles in putting together a new duo (or trio??).

Our set list included selections from classic country (e.g. Johnny Cash), new country (e.g., Miranda Lambert), bluegrass/new grass (e.g. Della Mae), folk (e.g. Dylan) and even a little bit o' blues. I have a fairly wide angle lens when it comes to music as long as it lends itself well to acoustic style. I do prefer songs with strong rhythm, good lyrics and upbeat tempo.

I have gear and practice space and would prefer to host our practices in my home.

I use chord sheets/music stand and when I am singing lead I adjust the key of songs to fit my voice via transposition and/or capo.

I have a good drum machine and would like to continue to use it to add a percussive element.

I have written songs that my duo performed and recorded (we did 2 CDs) but in general have found it was easier for bandmates to agree on set list selections from songs done by other artists than originals.

I am looking for someone who:

** is willing to commit to weekly practice (understanding that we all have lives that need tending)
** is a good communicator and is comfortable with doing some between-practice work/discussions via internet
** has a positive attitude and an open mind
** can discuss differing viewpoints objectively
** plays competently an instrument that compliments rhythm guitar
** is patient and understands that neither Rome nor duos can be built in a day
** likes to have fun but also takes both practice and performance seriously and is responsible (no heavy drinkers need respond) and on time for gigs and practice sessions
** is willing to share the load relative to promo and finding gigs

This may sound like quite a tall order from a little bit of a gal but if you think this might be something that interests you, send me a reply with info about yourself and some demos/photo. I can provide you with the same.

I am excited about a "new beginning" and will respond to all but I have a busy month ahead so depending on when you reply it might take me a while to get back to you.

Happy New Year!!
