You are interested in our Frank Lloyd Wright styled house which we built in 2001.
The property is only one hour from the GW Bridge or the Lincoln Tunnel. Minutes away there are NJ Transit buses to and from the port Authority(196 &197)
We like the efficiency of a smaller house design with less to heat and less upkeep, but with plenty of space for entertaining. Lovely design.
The house sits basically in the middle of fifteen acres and overlooks the big three acre pond.
We put in a good sized floating dock on the pond. Great for relaxing, feeding the fish or for swimming from.
The house is facing in the optimal direction so that you could easily add solar.
We get beautiful sunrises and sun sets.
The whole house has high cathedral ceilings throughout to add to the spaciousness of the smaller design.
There are 3 bedrooms, an office space upstairs that we used as a fourth bedroom.
There are two full bathrooms with Moroccan tiles. One bathroom has a tub holds two and has power massage jets, the other a large tiled walk in shower.
Nice large cooking friendly kitchen with NYC restaurant supply custom fabricated stainless steel cabinets, Moroccan tiled floor and granite counters.
There is a spacious dining area off the kitchen, surrounded by long windows that overlooks the pond.
The large living room features the full wall field stone fireplace, exposed wood beams, with a good sized reading nook facing the fireplace.
Off the kitchen is a pantry with washer/dryer, storage.
The house has a full sized, partially finished, fully insulated basement. We never fully finished the basement because the ground floor has plenty of room for us as it is. We only used the basement for storage and ping pong and foosball playing.
The basement is another 1800sq feet that could be used for anything you like.
Attached by a breezeway is our one car garage. I use it to keep the lawn tractor, snow blower, garden tools and bird foods..but it will hold a car if you chose..
There are two large wooden decks with comfortable built in wooden benches attached to the side and back of the house.
The insulated/electrified shed out back is 16x20 foot. I use it for refinishing guitars and for building many many bird houses.
In the last year we had the driveway re graveled, the cedar shingle house exterior and the roof power washed and cleaned. The decks were cleaned and sealed. The interior was painted from top to bottom. The septic was cleaned, the heating furnace as well.
All is ready to move in.
And..if you chose..you could parcel off the woods up behind the house and build two to three more homes to share/rent or sell. The area is designated for three acres per house.
I attached a survey map with highlighted 'drawn on' colors to represent the pond, house, drive and the corner boundary markers. We had the survey done and the corner boundaries marked by a local surveyor back in the late nineties.
The property is fifteen acres big.
We have gardened a couple acres around the house. There are many fruit trees, various grapes and berries and several garden areas where we grow plants and vegetables.
Over the years we've put in many beautiful decorative trees and bushes.
Plus , if you enjoy being active, we are surrounded by really good, diverse hiking, including the Appalachian Trail(quarter mile away), bike trails, skiing, many lakes for canoeing, green markets and even the big Renaissance Fair is nearby.
