Charlie was originally found as a stray in May 2014 after being hit by a car. A good Samaritan brought him to a local animal hospital where they tended to his injures. They tried finding a forever home for him, but were unsuccessful, so 6 months later, he landed in a municipal shelter. He arrived at the shelter limping still and then it was discovered he was also heartworm positive!! After months of treatment, Charlie is now heartworm negative and ready for his forever home. He is also enrolled in a training program to help build strength in his leg, as it is still weak from the accident and being kept on cage rest during heartworm treatment.
Little 3 yr old Charlie (just 50 lbs) is a lovebug and it doesn't take him long to love you, roll over for belly rubs and give lots and lots of kisses!!! He loves his toys and while he gets along with dogs, he would prefer to be your one and only. We adore this little dude and are so happy to have been able to make him a part of our rescue. Charlie is house-trained, knows "sit" and "place" and is working really hard to learn "down" and "stay". He would be best in a home with kids 13+. He really is a special dog, he is the mushiest dog we have in our rescue group, he just loves to love.
