Filmmaker looking to document the transformation of a retired steel hulled fishing industry ship into a co-op adventure-film producing mother-ship. Looking for crew to live aboard.
This is a liveaboard film project inspired by the Josh Whedon series Firefly.
You get to live aboard for free, get a free cell phone,(or your cell paid for, within reason) and we even buy all the food. No rent required, this is a trade for help with the project. You get a copy and film credits, as well as food, utilities and cell service paid for. Needing 8 to 9 crew cast, between the ages of 18 and 42, as well as two to four camera and sound crew. At certain times, we may runtwo cameras simultaneously. One entire space aboard one of the two large vessels will be devoted to editing and production. Of the vessels involved, one is the support vessel, the other is the longer and faster, if not larger, of the two.
One vessel will eventually be used to make a video about going thru the Panama Canal. This is a long term project and you may stay if you want when it's over. I have many more things in the works. Not all projects will be shot on the ship, a short film called "The Ride" will be shot in Sept/Oct in the Nevada desert.
Anyway, looking for interesting, chill people who do not know each other, and are of similar ages and descriptions to the principal characters aboard the vessel "Serenity" in the Josh Whedon series "Firefly". Crew cast for this will be able to do the same jobs aboard as their favorite character. This is a pet project I have been trying to put together for sometime now, and it's finally happening.

Some of the primary people we need for production crew will help with casting, writing and conceptualization. Between the two vessels, we have lots of space. This will not be a rushed project, more a reality documentary about how we did it.

The crew we are looking for does not use nicotine in any fashion or delivery. If you are a smoker, do not reply. if you were a smoker, but have quit, we support you, admire your courage and welcome your reply to this ad. I once fired an entire production crew because they smoked and lied on the application. I can even put up with a little 420, if you do it somewhere outside/else, but I want to be very clear: SMOKING ON THIS SHIP WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. It's a safety hazard aboard a ship, it stinks and I won't allow it. If you have some hidden chemical addiction, you won't last long on this crew.

No experience needed, we will train and coach you, but any EMT, therapeutic, theater, entertaining, acting or production skills are obviously plusses. The "Inara" character is a bit of a wild card, don't really know how to look for people who have her specialized skills. We'll leave that to the people who reply.

YOU GET your own room, paid food, utilities and cell service, and internet is provided aboard. Vessel will be primarily docked in Vallejo, but will move around during filming and maintenance projects.
