What questions should customers work through prior to tackling their renovation?
Are there any additional things to consider while taking on this project? What else might we consider doing that satisfy our future needs and could save us money at the same time?
What advice would you give to a customer prior to hiring a contractor?
Look for a company that will take the time, before, during, and after the job, to answer any questions you have. Find someone who is willing to consider your budget and provide a solution that meets your needs within that budget. Try to get a sense of their ethics. It tortures me to see someone be treated wrongly by a contractor. What kind of person will they be after the project is complete? Make sure that the same words that fill the air fill the four corners of the page of your contract, too. Always remember to keep your wants and expectations met because you are what this work is all about.
What about pricing and budget?
It is very important to me that I keep costs as low as possible while never cutting corners on materials or quality of workmanship. Some have said I can work magic.
How did you get started doing this kind of work?
I've been doing this kind of work my entire life. I was my father's assistant every weekend helping him work on a lakehouse he built himself, so, as long as I can remember. As a young adult I purchased my first house. It needed lots of work and updating, so I completely remodeled it to make and make It my own home. I fell in love with the process. That experience is what inspired me to continue with this work and gave me the name I chose for my business, House-2-Home Renovations. It excites me, and I'm so happy to be working in a field that I truly enjoy. Every day is a blessing.
What relevant education and/or training do you have?
I have worked in many different specialty skilled areas of the home construction and renovation business including electrical, plumbing, framing, cabinetry, and home theater installation. After gaining experience in just about every aspect, I began working for myself doing complete remodels.
In addition, I hold an Associate's Degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Oglethorpe.
