ABOUT US:
Hi my name is Hollie (33). I have been doing in home daycare since 2009. I am very flexible with schedules as long as you give me a heads up and if you are late to pick your child up for any reason, I dont charge a "late" fee like a lot of other providers out there. If you are going to be late just give us a call or text to keep me informed of whats going on and when I should be expecting you. Communication is a big key to a successful relationship. I have my phone on me at all time for texts, phone calls, or even emails and you are guaranteed to get an immediate response.

MY CHILDCARE BACKGROUND:

Hollie: Besides being a mom myself of a 16 year old son and a 2 1/2 year old little guy too, I grew up attending and volunteering in the YMCA after school and summer programs as a counselor from elementary school until my senior year in high school when I became pregnant with my son. After graduating high school, I then worked for Medallion School Partnerships as a site teacher for an after school program at Archer Glen Elementary school in Sherwood where I cared for 25 students with the help of an assistant. I also volunteered for the PAL (Police Activities League) in Sherwood for 3 years which is a program that was developed to give young children and teens a place to go and be productive. I had also been doing evening and weekend childcare for about 2 years outside of my work hours when I worked full time for a mortgage company (eventually they filed bankruptcy and I was laid off during the recession) and I have been doing full time childcare for 8.5 years now and love the children as if they were my own and have developed friendships with all the parents. I truly care about each and every child as if they were my own. All of the kids that come here never want to go home which I think is a good thing :)

Everyone in or around the home at any point is enrolled in the criminal background registry, have our RRCAN, CPR/First Aid in Infant child and adult, have done the overview class, food handlers card, continuing education classes, safety education courses. All backup providers are also current on all necessary classes and certifications as well (VERY rare that someone else would need to come in).

I do take 2 vacations a year but try to limit it to 4-5 days and 2 of those days being on the weekend so it least affects our daycare families. I will give as much notice as possible or try to find a covering provider.

ABOUT OUR HOME:
It is 2500 square feet with a fully fenced front yard that has a big rainbow play structure with not 1, 2, but 3 huge slides, and fort underneath!!!!! We added our outdoor play equipment outside too which includes a teeter totter, swing, more little tikes play structures, etc! Suits all ages! We will be redoing the front play area this winter though to make sure its even better for this upcoming spring and summer! Inside the whole upper level (split level when you walk in) is the daycare/living room area. The main area has toys for kiddos and play area as well which also includes a swing inside (CRAZY RIGHT?!!?! but oh so fun!!!)! There is also another room for the little ones to play in and nap quietly if needed. The kids have mats to nap on or the couch if they prefer and we also have the pack n plays and cribs for the smaller kiddos. Kitchen and bathroom are upstairs as well with stepstools for kiddos to access easily. All rooms/fireplaces/stairsways have safety gates and enclosures. The downstairs is our living level with our rooms, office, laundry room, and bathroom and the children are not allowed down there per the state license rules.

CLOSURES: It is very seldom that we close. We are usually only closed for major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, etc) and we will take a poll to see how many families need care on other less major holidays to see if we will be open or not (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day). We are always open for all the other holidays such as columbus day, veterans day, presidents day etc. If we take vacations we always give as much notice as possible and always schedule some if not all of the days we are gone during the weekends (we usually take 3 day vacations so we are only closed 1 day overall for the daycare). There will be a week in March that we will be closed for a few days as we have to help my parents and grandparents in Ohio. We always post upcoming dates on the door as well and suggest to always have back up childcare just in case of an emergency or advanced plan notice.

PETS:
Zoe is a 9 year old 8 pound chiweenie and is very friendly as well. She is very tolerable of the kiddos but will run and hide when she has had enough of them cornering her.

Subie is a 3 year old 9 pound chiweenie but can kind of get nervous with all the kids so we try to keep her separated from the kids. She does well but when she is cornered by all of them we think it overwhelms her too much.

Charger is a 6 month old puppy that we just got as our older chocolate lab just recently passed away. She is a black lab and not fully grown for now lol but is very playful with the kiddos and we decided to get a puppy that could grow with our 2 year old son and daycare kiddos as well. We were afraid to adopt an older dog from someone who claimed they were good with kids and then turn around and them not be. Anyways she is very loving but is a puppy so when she gets over excited we have to give her a time out in the kitchen til she mellows out.

(The dogs are usually kept separated from the children as we have had 2 of our daycare kids bit by dogs-NOT OUR DOGS-so they are skittish of them now so just to be safe and not cause extra anxiety to them we just let our dogs stay out back, in the garage, downstairs, or in the kitchen where they are not in the same area as the kids).

We also have a bearded dragon named Godzilla that we adopted from a former daycare family! She is in her cage but where the kids can see her and interact with her through the glass. They absolutely love her and watching her eat.

FOOD:
All meals and snacks will be provided (Enrolled in the USDA Food Program) so your child will not be eating chips, cookies, or candy all day. We like to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy foods. If you want to bring special snacks or meals for your child you are more than welcome to :-) If there are also allergies, please let us know so we can accommodate your childs diet.

BELONGINGS:
We ask that if your child is in diapers that you supply diapers/pullups and we use our own wipes as its too hard to put everyones back in the bag before they leave. You can have the option of purchasing wipes and leaving them here or for $5 a month we can supply them. We use the huggies sensative wipes. Also a change of clothes or two. Never know if there is going to be an accident, get wet from playing in our Oregon weather, or kiddo getting sick or something. Some parents prefer to leave everything here or you can do the diaper bag thing. Totally up to you :-) We do ask that kids not bring toys or anything super special that might get lost as the kids mix toys up when cleaning up or it can become a problem when kiddos get super protective of their belongings (blankies, stuffed animal etc is fine though).

If you are interested or want to know more about us or have any questions, please feel free to email us (using the contact link above) or you can call/text us at . We do have references from parents of children we currently watch and have personal family and friend references as well if you would like those too. Thank you for taking the time to read about us and our daycare and enjoy the beautiful sunshine this week!

If you would like to call, please call later in the evenings or on weekends as we are very busy during the day and its hard to talk on the phone (noise level as well sometimes). But feel free to email or text! Thank you!

:-)
