no demo no skillee no cluee no bandee (no gigee)

Is it important for a musician to have a demo reel... or even just one really good recording of one's ability?

I wonder, because I keep seeing the same jokers posting the same lame shit on here. They often present no no bio sheet, no credits, no demo links... and if they do have a demo, it's typically 20 years old, they barely played anything on it, and what they did sort of "play" can barely be heard. Yet, they call themselves "professionals".

They make demands on number of gigs per year, no start up bands.

They claim years of professional experience yet ironically they're always available, like the perennial slobs on dating sites and like the house down the street that's always for sale... but nobody's looking anymore.

Is it because they can't show any credible experience or skill?
Or is this really a dating or real estate site for?
