Omar comin Badass former street cat seeks new indoor gig. (South Baltimore) hide this posting unhide

He's a friendly guy who was abandoned at some point by his former owners, and joined up with a group of feral cats. (He even enjoyed living in vacant houses, like his namesake... note the picture of him sitting on a toilet in a burned-out vacant before he was rescued.)

Omar was on the streets for a long time fending for himself, and he is a BIG, tough dude who lived the thug life. But he loves his new indoor life, even if he doesn't totally have the hang of it yet -- he ignores the cat toys and plays with the cord on the vacuum cleaner and the hose on the sprayer in the kitchen sink! He snores when he sleeps, and he'll make you laugh every single day.

He does need an experienced cat owner, and he's not suitable for a home with young kids. He gets along very well with other cats, although he likes to wrestle and roughhouse, so would do best with other outgoing young cats who won't be intimidated by his play style. See a video of him playing footsie with one of his buddies here: https://youtu.be/hRumx7j6Deo

He is currently living with two large cat-friendly dogs, but he is NOT a fan... so while he certainly *could* live with dogs (if they are cat friendly and you introduce them slowly and carefully), his preference is definitely for a dog-free environment.

He very much enjoys the finer things that come along with his new indoor lifestyle, like sleeping in bed with his human, napping in sunny windowsills, and lounging on the couch. He's also quite playful and seems to be enjoying a second kittenhood! He is still a young cat, probably in the 3-5 year old range. He is now neutered, tested negative for FIV/feline leukemia, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and microchipped. He's a big, solid dude... probably weighs 12-14 lbs.

Former tomcats like Omar tend to have a certain swagger and "cat-ittude" that make them real characters and super-entertaining pets, but they definitely need cat-savvy humans who understand their quirks. So I'll be pretty fussy about where Omar goes. Indoor-only/no-declaw home required. Potential adopters will be asked to fill out an application, and there will be an adoption contract. I don't ask a set adoption fee, but I do pay all vet expenses out of my own pocket, so a contribution back to the "vet fund" would be appreciated.

If you think you're interested in Omar, send me an email and tell me about!
