Photography business pkg

Thinking about starting up a small business in freelance photography? Not yet equipped to make a go of it? Willing to learn and accept help from a more experienced photographer?

Maybe we can work together. My spouse & I built up a small photography business before recently moving to the Cincinnati area, but have decided not to restart it again (for now). As a consequence, I've got a pretty big collection of good gear that isn't getting enough use to hang onto. I remain a knowledgeable hobbyist/enthusiast, and would like to find a buyer willing to pay for both a good collection of startup gear *AND* the help needed to start their own photography business.

I'll admit it, I don't want to sell off the equipment at a steep discount due to what I have invested. I also don't want to deal with dozens of time-wasting responders by listing things one piece at a time. But I recognize that I need to offer more than just the gear to make it worthwhile for a buyer. So... if you can take advantage of training, assistance on shoots & edits, and the opportunity to use some of my higher-end gear, *then* this package becomes a great bargain. First let me outline the gear, then the kind of help I can offer.

The camera gear I'm selling is primarily Sony A-mount (traditional DSLR not the newer E-mount / mirrorless stuff). The camera is an a580 with a shutter count in the 10k range. My favorite distinctive features of the camera are in-body stabilization and in-body focus motor. *ALL* A-mount lenses get both benefits, including many excellent Minolta lenses from back in the film era, before Sony bought out their camera division. Also for sale are most of my Minolta AF lenses, highlighted by a 135mm f/2.8 prime, the legendary 70-210mm f/4, the indispensable 50mm f/1.7, a highly regarded 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5, and a hard-to-find 24-50mm f/4. And more.

Other gear for sale relates to lighting, especially for portraits -- both TTL and strobist-style flashes, radio triggers, stands, and modifiers.

The kind of help I can offer:
- personalized training / tutoring: camera, lenses, lighting, editing, workflow, business plans
- act as an assistant (or shooter) on sessions you book
- provide use of some higher-end gear on sessions you book, such as studio lights, pro-grade lenses
- editing, monitor calibration
- etc.

Basically, you get the short-term benefits of having an experienced partner while you try to get a foothold in a competitive (but fun and rewarding) business.

I expect someone starting up will need to buy/invest a little at a time rather than make a single up front bulk purchase. I'm open to that. We'll just need to discuss arrangements to make sure they're beneficial to both sides. You'll find me to be reasonable and fair.

Contact me if interested in both equipment *and* help and we can discuss further. Don't bother to contact me with low offers on single pieces of equipment.
