QR Code Link to This Post Meet Merle. He's a stocky gray British Shorthair, Russian Blue mix and estimated to be about three years old. The poor guy was found on the streets of Philly, tattered, sore and had such a bad eye infection, he could hardly open his expressive little eyes.

Merle was taken inside and vetted. He tested positive for FIV, was giving meds for his eye infection, and his bloodwork last month came back as having kidney issues from the stress of getting chased and beaten up on the streets.

Now after weeks of being warm and fed indoors, the gray gent is starting to blossom into the welcoming house kitty he was meant to be. Merle is at a healthy weight, clean, and his eyes are improving. He has some broken teeth from his past life as an alley gladiator, but it doesn't stop him from his enjoying his meals.

Merle is cool, calm, and once he gets to know you quickly, he is a GREAT lap cat. He enjoys interacting with catnip toys and is a perfect teddy bear at night. He also seems to be indifferent with other animals. So any friendly cats or doggies should be fine. Because Merle is still learning indoor life and may lightly swat out of fear, a home without young children is recommended.

But Merle is a social, quiet fellow! When you have visitors, Merle loved to be the centerpiece of the conversation!

The plush bear needs a kitty-savvy owner who is willing to provide him with any further vet care and loads of TLC for the rest of his years. Unfortunately, his current caregiver is only TEMPORARY. And the poor guy has been looking for a good forever home for months.

But it seems that no one wants this former dirty ol' stray...
