We recently relocated from the mainland to West Maui. My son has been called black by multiple local kids and I don't fully understand it. My son is so pale he is practically transparent, so I don't see it as an ethnic issue. My son is in grade school and takes things very literal, so it confuses and frustrates him. We have gotten him to understand that you can't be labelled by names but I would still like to know if there is any context I am missing. Any additional insight would be helpful.
