To the south, less than two miles is the devils lake state recreation area. Boaters, water-skiers, swimmers and personal watercraft users share the water. Kayak tours of the lake are scheduled in the summer (the park provides the kayak). The park also has designated picnicking arias with hiking and biking trails. Across the highway from the park is the d river state recreation site, with the kite festival in October. Tanger outlet mall is less than 3 miles away, it is the largest outlet center in the Pacific Northwest, and this factory outlet mall features 65 tax-free stores that sell a large variety of national and designer name brand items. Newport is less than 28 miles away with the Oregon coast aquarium, as well as all the other attractions Newport has to offer.
