Available for adoption through Black Dog Animal Rescue!

GusGus is a bit shy and nervous at first so he reminded us of the scared mouse on Cinderella, who after he realizes he's safe is full of personality. Plus the name GusGus is pretty fun to say. This is a very sweet dog who just seems to have been misunderstood in his previous home. His breed "Mountain Cur" is typically brave and protective with a strong drive to hunt but in the short time he's been in foster care he seems more like a teddy bear than a bear hunter. The paperwork from the animal shelter said he was turned in because he would not hunt and we'd anticipate the sounds of gunshots would very much frighten this sensitive boy. GusGus seems a little unsure of new people and new environments and he takes a bit of time to warm up and feel safe. He does not retreat from you but avoids looking up or approaching, he is doing much better with his foster parents but he will need an adopter willing to give him time to settle in. We think he'd benefit from having another confident dog (or two) in his adoptive home to show him the way around. He is currently in a foster home with two other male dogs and two female dogs and gets along really well with them all. He seems curious about the cats but so far is suspicious and cautious of them. He kennels well, is easy to correct for bad manners and is just starting to show us his wiggly tail nub wagging. Soon we hope to see if he knows any commands but we were waiting till he came out of his shell some to work on any of that. GusGus pulls a little on leash but is actually pretty easy to manage for his 70lb size and as he gains confidence we will introduce him to a gentle lead. We will update his bio as he gets more comfortable at his foster home but apply soon as this handsome fella is sure to get adopted quickly he has lots of love to give and we can't wait to see him blossom.

Apply at www.bdar.org under the adopt tab or stop by 3619 Evans Ave in Cheyenne to submit a paper application between 9am-5pm weekdays. No dogs are located at the center as they are all in foster homes but you can put in an application and talk to our staff at that location.

His adoption fee is $150 and he comes vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.

Thanks for looking to!
