A supreme being

Hello!

My name is Maggie. I am a two year old lab/pit mix. About a year ago I was traveling down Ellington Parkway in the back of a pick-up truck when my abusive owner hit a bump -- and the breaks. I went flying out of the back of the truck - along with the cinder block I was tied to. I then went bouncing across the interstate/speeding cars. My "owner" never even slowed down to see if I was okay.

Obviously, I was really hurt and severely traumatized from all the abuse I suffered. I have the scars to remind me where I came from. I was bred to fight (I can't be around mirrors) but I just loved too much - I didn't make the cut. But, I'm happy and healed now. I'm just waiting for my forever home to scoup me up and coddle me like the baby I am.

I love to be loved. I love to sit next to my humans and push into them. I get cold easily, so I love to snuggle - preferably under the covers. I am a very strong pup and do push-ups/lift weights every chance I get...I'm buff! But, I am very gentle with everyone around me.

I need a big yard, preferably fenced, because I am very high energy (in an adorable, horse-romping-like way, ha!). I love to swim, I love to chase the water from the hose/snake? I have a ball....it's a special, bouncy ball. I spend most of my days looking for this ball, but my foster mom keeps it hidden because I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS FREAKIN BALL! I would love to fetch it for you. I would fetch it for you 24/7, if you let me.

I am an indoor dog and I don't like to be away from my humans - but, I'm fine being left home alone while you work. I'm totes out of my chewing phase. I promise. As long as I have a firm mattress, I just peacefully sleep the hours away. : )

I know my basic commands, I love puzzle games - I have tons of them, I love to learn, and I am a very good listener.

Love,

Maggie

Maggie is extremely precious to us, and while she desperately needs a home, we will be very scrupulous about where she goes. She has to be somewhere/with someone who is going to love her and treat her like the princess she is. A couple of things:

Maggie is spayed, has all shots, has received any/all necessary medical care. I am not looking to recoup monies for her extensive vetrinary care. I just want her to have the life she deserves.

You will need to provide veterinary/character/employment reference(s).

We would need to schedule a visit at your home to evaluate how well you and Maggie get along before the adoption is final.

While Maggie is good with everyone, I have seen her become territorial when provoked. Pits are traditionally best as single pets and they are very protective/loyal towards their humans. She does require a lot of attention, but she is very situation-adaptive. I imagine the best scenario as her with either a single adult or a couple. (Other scenarios considered at your suggestion.)

I would also like Maggie's new parent(s) to become our friend(s). I can't imagine a world where I don't get to see her beautiful face. I would also like to offer lifelong support. I don't have much money, but everything I have goes towards taking care of those in need. If you end up not being the right person for Maggie (it pains me to write this, I hope we are both capable of making the right, permanent decisions here), I will always allow her to return. I will also always be available for financial support if the situation arises. I want what's best for her. She deserves it. All dogs do.

I'm sure I'll think of more.. I know this is a lot. And, will probably be a turn off to most people. But I know that the right person will appreciate my thoughts and concerns for her, and know that I'm only trying to ensure Maggie's utmost safety and interests.

If interested, please email a thoughtful response. Obviously, I will only respond to those who come across as serious and who present themselves as the ideal parent for Mag. I sure hope you're out there. : )

Love,

Jes
