He neither paid me nor thanked me. Instead, he turned the power to the stove top off, turned the heat off, and the house got below the legal temperature for a senior citizen, which is what I am. He started locking me out of the house when I would go outside. I called the sheriff about the heat and the locking-out, who referred me to the state police. The officer told me they had been to the house on numerous occasions, they knew Chris well, that the heat was a civil matter, but that I would not be charged for breaking down any doors that he locked to deny me access to the house or to my stuff in the garage. Each day during the week I was there, he did something additional, something additional each day, to make my stay there uncomfortable. He removed the pots and pans from the kitchen. Threw one of my two bags of food away. Left two dogs upstairs (he was staying downstairs during my stay). The dogs were not housebroken, and they pooped and peed all over the upstairs. He removed the toilet paper from my bathroom. He would not give me keys to the house and garage. He would not unlock the door until I said I would break the door if he didn't unlock it. Denied me access to my stuff in the garage until I told him I would break the door if he didn't unlock it. I was so discomfited by this man. I was at a complete loss as to the reasoning behind the things he did to antagonize me. His behavior - the aggression and hostility toward me - was totally puzzling and alarming. To my credit, I never raised my voice to him or acted in anger, although I did ask him to put the heat on (it was below freezing outside, the nights I was there), let me cook on the stove, etc. I was so glad to be out of there. It was like escaping from hell. I couldn't leave until the week was up, as I got my SS check the last day, and I didn't have money to rent a new place. It was just awful, incomprehensible, bewildering. I was so upset by all that he did, and I am guessing that my being upset was maybe what he wanted, although I have no idea why. It was like living with a spoiled, evil four year old who was having a temper tantrum while possessing the keys to the house and the only access to the electrical controls. The state police officer said he was known to act.
