Beware watch out for dog sellers (Vermont)

Everyone out there looking for a dog or puppies that are pure bred. I was contacted by a woman that was "asking for a rehoming fee" when in fact she was selling puppies at a profit to her. Beware... Check references, ask if they have proper papers. Ask if they are OFA and SAS certified so you know your not getting a pure bred dog that will be medically unsound. I made this mistake and ended up having to put my beloved Newfoundland down because I was not smart enough to ask about the animals breeding. Make sure the are registered with AKC, get names of others who have purchased from breeder, get medical history. Research them and the breed as much as you can. If not, it can end up costing you countless amounts of money only to have to put the poor animal down. Puppy mill owners and people who breed just for money are either ignorant or heartless concerning the welfare of these dogs. I was contacted by one recently. When I started asking questions I got no response and she was flagged on Craigslist. Don't make my mistake, I hope this helps people who innocently want a pure bred companion dog. Rehoming fee is not hundreds to thousands of.
