JOURNALIST-IN-RESIDENCE IN RUSSIA

IN PRE-PUTIN DAYS TO DISCUSS

PRESS FREEDOM IN POST-SOVIET DAYS

A new book about press freedom in Russia recently released by Bedazzled Ink is garnering widespread media attention from readers and press throughout the country.

"From Under the Russian Snow" was written by a career journalist who was the Journalist-in-Residence in that country in 1995. It recounts the story of Michelle A. Carter who was granted a fellowship by the U.S. Information Agency (USIA) to guide fellow editors all over the former USSR's 11 time zones. Her mission focused on assisting colleagues in the largest country on Earth in establishing a free press after the government no longer controlled the media.

The memoir chronicles the author's journey, including the life-altering experience she had at the halfway point and her resilience in conquering it.

A remarkable memoir, it's available through Amazon.com which within only 5 days of its release listed it as one of the top 100 memoirs on Russia to be published this year. To read a moving online review, follow the link at the top of this page.

As the publicist for the author, I will gladly send any Cleveland group or venue interested in booking Michelle Carter for a presentation. If you email, please put "RUSSIAN SNOW" in the subject line. Thanks!
