Who agrees that a stay-at-home-dad is a rare treasure?
I watched my first son full-time from birth through his first birthday. When I went back to work outside the home, we researched and visited dozens of day care options (in Colorado) for our own son from large centers on down to stay-at-home grandmas, and then utilized two different Montessories and a SAHM before conceding that I could not find anyone I trusted to take care of my child as well as I felt that I could on my own. My wife and I became licensed as equally qualified childcare providers in Colorado and cared for two infants and a toddler in addition to our own child. Since then, we have added to our family with a second son, moved to Wyoming, and I now care for a preschooler in addition to our own two boys. We are delighted to provide the kind of quality care that we expect for our own children. I recently updated my CPR/ First Aid Certification at West Park Hospital. In addition to our previous licensing, I also have experience in a larger licensed daycare facility including children with special needs. Because I am planning to accept only one or two more children, the ratio remains excellent.
We are non-smokers and we strive to keep our home free of toxins. We have a friendly English springer spaniel. We offer date-nights and a flexible schedule. We believe in packing as much nutrition as possible into the small amount that children eat. We will provide healthy balanced meals and snacks for your child, full of colorful vegetables and fresh fruit, legumes, and whole grains. As a small daycare, we are happy to accommodate vegetarian diets, organic preferences, allergies, etc. We provide cloth diapers for your baby's health and potty learning and the health of the environment while also saving you money.
We provide a preschool curriculum program designed by professionals for all areas of development for school readiness such as math and science, social activities, alphabet and language, music and movement, creative art, and games. We send home monthly newsletters for family involvement to reinforce what they are learning here. There are two programs available that can be tailored from about six months old past kindergarten. We also subscribe to ABCMouse.com. We continually add to our training and collection of supplies, and will search out resources corresponding to your child's interests and aptitudes.
I am great with kids and love spending time helping them to learn and grow. I am mechanically minded and love building things with them and engaging them in activities. My wife has a baccalaureate in Biology and enjoys exploring nature with the children and doing science projects, as well as helping them to express their creativity through art and movement. She plays the violin and piano, which makes it easy to share music with the children. Learning music improves mathematical ability and brain development. We read to the children every day and tell them about what is going on around them, stopping to listen to anything the children have to share in return. We are familiar with sign language, including Baby Signs, and provide many opportunities for learning.
We love to go for walks outdoors and appreciate beauty every day in addition to finding playgrounds and incorporating physical activity. We also like to visit the local library for fun and educational events such as story time and concerts, or take field trips to museums and discovery centers, kite flying, short hikes, etc. We play games and have a terrific time together!
We believe that trust must be earned. We will be honest and open with you, eager to tell you all about your child's day, and you are welcome to pop by at any moment. We will also send a report sheet home with you each day plus any crafts we made. We keep parents updated with photos, our schedule and activities, and more.
