Farm Job RoomBoard

We are in search of a person or persons, male or female, to live and work on our small farm. This position includes a wide variety of tasks on the property. The listing of duties below will be tailored to the person's skills and interests. Some of the duties are outdoor oriented, some are more domestic in nature. We offer living space, food, and other benefits in exchange for work.
Duties can include, but are not limited to:
• Feeding, watering and care of animals. Currently on the farm there are chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, donkeys, dogs and cats. Animal related tasks include collection of eggs, counting the livestock, etc.
• Planting, upkeep and harvesting of garden.
• Canning and preservation of garden harvests.
• Carpentry and building of structures. Can include electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and finish work.
• Welding and metal construction.
• Automotive and small engine repair and maintenance of farm equipment.
• Recycling and recovery of scrap metal from property and other sources.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Living space in the form of a small rv. Basic but includes all the necessities.
• Food. Three meals a day. The fare is simple but filling.
• Hi-speed internet with WiFi
• Cellphone
• Small weekly cash stipend
• Basic toiletries, for example soap/body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper.
• Access to huge collection of DVD's and books.
• Free time to pursue hobbies and leisure activities.
• Trips into town for shopping etc periodically. We are at least 30 miles from the nearest small town and all driving is planned ahead of time. No dashing to the cornerstore for a couple items.
A few guidelines that we follow when considering applicants:
• Criminal background checks are performed. If there is something on your history, major or minor, resolved or ancient history. . .let us know. It is better to tell us about it up front than to make us wonder why you didn't mention it. We do believe that people CAN learn from mistakes and change their ways.
• Applicants will be telephone interviewed by several people who already live and work here. There may be repetitive questions from each person because what we want is to gather impressions independently. We invite applicants to ask just as many questions of each interviewer. Each person here has their own viewpoint to share and answers may vary.
• We are open to considering persons of any age, male or female, couples, etc. Pets ok as long as compatible with farm life.
• Applicants are not expected to be able to do ALL the items on the list above but if you are a Jack Of All Trades that would be a plus.
