I'm looking for a female singer with guitar abilities to join a new band that i'm starting.
About the project:
-retro indie-pop style (think Camera Obscura, Tennis, Cults, She & Him, etc)
-instrumentation: organ, guitar, drums, (1 male voice [me], 1 female voice [you])
-melodramatic but clever lyrics, nice smart harmonies, good musicianship but simple accessible music
-recording project to start, focusing on online promotion, but hopefully gigs would follow
-I definitely have high ambitions for these songs and if they turn out well, I'll be promoting them a lot!
-two songs already written but have ideas for more and are open to collaborating on more
About Me:
-25 year old male song-writer, singer, professional pianist/organist
-I lead 1 successful Chicago band which has been named best new band by Chicago Reader, and has played almost all the prominent venues in town (metro, double door, schubas, etc)
-I play keyboards and sing backups in another successful touring band based in Chicago
-played SXSW 2014, Austin Psych Fest, Goose Island 312 Block Party, Milwaukee Ave Arts Fest and more festivals
-interested in many types of music, from funk to salsa to experimental jazz to psych rock, but know how to hone in a particular sound for a particular project
-committed to making music my career in the long run
-I always conduct myself in a professional manner when it comes to music projects: I like to work efficiently at rehearsals meaning I don't do drugs or dick around.
About you:
-female singer in your twenties
-preferably you have some basic guitar abilities
-familiar with the style/bands listed above and have a voice somewhat similar to those singers (but original style is GREAT!)
-comfortable performing on stage
-preferably you write your own songs (I find it easier to collaborate with songwriters)
-able to set aside time for rehearsals and shows
-open to the possibility of touring if the project goes well! ! !
-open to participating in all the non-music side of being in a band (i.e. photo shoots, promotion, interviews etc)
-willing to take constructive criticism and give constructive criticism!
-music is your PASSION not just a hobby! :)
Basically I'm looking for a professionally minded, creative, talented, positive musician to collaborate with on this project which has been in my head for two years! Let's make some quality music and get it out to as many ears as possible!
