If you are interested in the part, please submit a video audition of yourself reading Laura in the segment of our script below by Friday (04/03) at 7pm. The script segment is below.

This is a non-paid job but we will provide a copy of the film for your reel. The film will also be shown at a public screening at the end of April.

SCRIPT:

LAURA is chopping vegetables in the kitchen, her phone sitting right next to her on the counter. There is urgent knocking on the door. Laura looks up from her cooking, wipes her hands and opens the door.

JESSICA
(as she's bursting into the house, heading straight for the couch, out of breath and very stressed)
It's off! It's off!

LAURA
(closes the door and quickly grabs a jacket and throws it over the table, covering a bunch of stuff)
Jess, calm down. Everything's fine. I checked the venue and the dresses. It's all under control. No, it's off! Just last week we were at our final dance lesson...

JESSICA
No, it's off! Just last week we were at our final dance lesson. But then he called off the wedding.

LAURA
Oh, Jess...

JESSICA
He kept saying it was as if he didn't know me anymore, but clearly I was the one who never even knew him! Those details they knew about him... the letters had to be true! I don't understand how I didn't see it before.

LAURA
Well it's better you found out now. You wouldn't want to be stuck with someone who turns out to be a liar and a thief.

JESSICA
I know. You're right. I really thought he was the perfect man. But so did all those other women.

LAURA
Jess, are you going to be okay?

JESSICA
Yeah. I guess I should go cancel the caterer, and the venue. Thanks for all being here for me,

LAURA
(feeling a little remorse because she caused the breakup, but also happy she succeeded; trying to act normal)
Really, you don't need to thank.
