In Response to Coverband or Original Artist Critics

I'm amazed at the lack of class and lack of intelligence some of our fellow local musicians possess. If someone only wants to do a cover band thing -- great. There are trillions of great songs written that should be played forever, and you are helping in that process. If someone is a writer and they want an original band -- awesome. Their art, and talent, like the ones you cover, help makes this planet a less sucky place. Whatever makes you happy. Lately I have run across an abundance of mental midgets that seem to think that what gets them off musically is the only thing everyone else should be doing, and what opinion they have should be the one we all have. All of this shows the lack of mental stamina some people have. I m amazed how many people have degrees on their wall yet nothing between their ears. If you can't shut the hell up and support the musician to right or left of you, then you are not a true musician, and whatever music store you bought your gear from should be made to shut their doors. I have seen the recent post about wanting people to be more descriptive in their ads. If you see the phrase "songs written", or "looking to collaborate" or " planning to record", that's probably a good sign they are looking to do more than covers. -- Rocket science isn't it! Now I know the obvious response to this probably something to the effect of "hey @$$ clown, don't get pissed be pissed because someone doesn't want to listen to your crappy originals." I can understand that, but I am not the only writer in this area that has had the privilege of vapid mindless local wanna be critics trying to get their goat. I don't get why the cover band guys think they are in a higher echelon than those that write their own material. Sorry cover guys, while what you do is great and needed in this area, some of us need more substance in our performances and live shows, and don't want the crux of our existence to hinge on something a 9 year old teaches you on YouTube. I see this constant notion that if you are original songwriter and performer you go nowhere in this town. Apparently if you are from Michigan there is no way to make any money or write anything that people want to listen to. If this is true then could someone please forward this info to Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Pop Evil, Mark Tremonti, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, The 4 Tops, Al Green, Madonna, Eminem, Mark Farner, Glen Frey, Anthony Kiedis, Iggy Pop, Royce, Chad Smith, Uncle Cracker, Jack White, The Von Bondies, Wayne Static, Smokey Robinson, need I say?!
