Her is an email solicitation received the other day. It is designed to appear like it was sent from the IRS. While reading this you should know that I have never spoken to these people so that they would have no knowledge about my tax practice what so ever, yet the claim to list me as the "Best Rated Tax Practice" in Las Vegas. While it was simple for me to recognize this as a scam it may not be so obvious for you to as a reader of their posting. You may easily be fooled into believing I am the best tax prepare in Vegas. All I can assume is that they got my name from a legitimate list of tax preparers from the IRS list of registered tax preparers. I registered with the IRS and qualified to, and received a PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) number under their program.
The reason I show this to you is so that you check into the background of your prospective tax preparer. You should question your preparer about his or her background. I have already published a list of question you should ask. If you missed it just send me an email.
