Is the Pennsylvania Criminal Justice System Infallible (Hartford)

Is the Pennsylvania Criminal Justice System infallible? If you answered yes to that question, then this post is not for you. And you probably believe in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus. Now that the children have moved on to another post. Let's move on. If the Pennsylvania Criminal Justice System is not infallible, then we can logically conclude that a percentage of those found guilty by the system are in fact innocent. I'll go out on a limb here and without systematic analysis, state that the percentage which are actually innocent is a relatively small percentage of the total found guilty. The exact percentage will always be hard, if not impossible to calculate, because we only have numbers for those who successfully fight for and obtain their freedom. For those who do not have the fortitude and resources to fight for their freedom, the magnitude of the injustice of their incarceration may always be beyond our means to measure.

Therefore, for some folks, albeit a small percentage, the Pennsylvania Criminal Justice System is an Injustice System. This post is about a member of that small group of innocents, that small percentage, for whom the Pennsylvania Criminal Justice System is an Injustice System. He comes here before you to ask for your support in his effort to obtain his freedom.

This is where I can almost hear the mice scurrying for the left side of the page, looking for the exit. First the children left, now the mice are looking for the exit. We live a society where the majority embrace the ideals of justice and freedom only if they can do it, without taking a stand or lifting a finger. Movements for justice, freedom and equality in this country and worldwide has always been movements of the minority of the people.

By the process of elimination or simply profiling, I conclude that you stand for justice, equality and freedom. The issue of the injustices that exist in our society are not new to you. You have confronted these issues before. You feel empathy for people as they struggle with life's challenges, and you are, have been or will be part of that minority that fights for justice, freedom and equality.

Given who you are, it is not a difficult task for you to consider supporting Wilbert Gay, Jr. in his effort to obtain his freedom, for all he ask is that you read his online moveon.org petition in which he makes the case that Pennsylvania should give him the opportunity to appeal his conviction. To get started all you have to do is lift your little finger and click on the moveon.org website address below:
