KS AGREED DIVORCE

249,499 USD

My law office can handle uncontested divorces for only $249 without minor children and $499 with minor children. These are one-time fees that are paid to start the case. No other fees to me will be paid as long as the case remains non-contested. The case filing fee in Kansas is approximately $200, so that will also need to be paid to start. If you have children, you will also likely need to take a parenting class, which is usually around $75. This means that the total cost of your divorce will be $449 without kids or $774 with kids. Please note that these totals are approximate because of court fees. My fees are set and will not change.

There is simply no reason for attorneys to charge dramatically more than this for this type of case. The process is direct and the timeline is clear. Kansas law requires that you must wait at least 60 days from the date the case is filed until the date the judge can sign the divorce decree. So once your case is filed, I will contact the court for a court hearing date as soon after that 60 day window as can be scheduled.

An agreed divorce is one where there is only one hearing, the final decree hearing, and no issues are argued to the court for the judge to decide. All terms of the divorce, child custody plan, and asset/debt distribution are agreed to by the parties outside court and are simply submitted to the court for approval. If a case becomes contested, then my regular hourly rate applies from that point forward.

Upon being hired and having my fees and the court filing fees paid, I can usually get a case filed within 1 to 2 days. So we can get that 60 day timetable rolling.

My office is located in downtown Olathe. My primary county of practice is Johnson County, but I also am willing to take non-contested cases in Douglas County, Franklin County, Leavenworth County, Miami County, and Wyandotte County.

I've been in practice for over a decade and know these counties and the system quite well. The key for you is that I will guide you through the process, making sure that everything is done legally and properly so you can move on with your life.

If you'd like to set up an appointment (no charge for an initial meeting), then give me a call or send me a message.

Thank you.
