Land or Backyard to Rent for Modern Tiny House on Wheels (Cape ElizabethSouth Portland)

Hi Everyone,

We have been inspired by the tiny house movement and have been downsizing by choice over the past seven years from a 2200 sq.ft. colonial all the way down to 300 sq.ft. flat to keep life simple and focus on what is important to us. We are seeking a small space on your land to live in our beautiful tiny house on wheels which has just been completed by our amazing builder in North Carolina (the pictures above were taken of our tiny house during an open house in the builders town). We will happily pay a negotiated rent or will happily barter in exchange for land upkeep, other various chores and care taking duties, life or nutrition coaching (We are both life coaches and I am a registered dietitian/nutritionist) if you desire. We prefer the barter system since we believe in a community based on that system but understand that people may require rent and that is fine as well. The house was just completed by a professional tiny house building company in North Carolina and it is elegant, attractive, and modern. It is waiting to be towed by a professional towing company as soon as we find the right spot!

About our tiny house:
(for any specifics about this model tiny house, visit www.minimhomes.com.)

The only things needed to "plug the house in" is access to a dedicated 50 amp outlet and regular water hose. The house will have a sustainable composting toilet (no black water to worry about disposing of-no septic or hookup to town sewer required). The grey water (from sinks and shower) can be recycled into gardens, trees, etc. as only 100% biodegradable detergent, bath, dish soaps will be used. The hot water heater and cooktop will be run off propane which will help the house go completely solar which is the goal as soon as we save up for it. The house itself is 24 ft long x 12 ft wide x 13.5 ft high and 250 square feet in area. It is built onto a custom made trailer and is considered an oversized load when being towed because it is wider than 8.5 ft. wide (although the trailer itself is a standard size trailer, the house is just built over it an extra 2 feet on either side to make the 12 feet total). This means that when being moved, we have to hire a professional hauling company who is insured, and gains access to the permits (which are easy to get, we just have to pay for them) to move it. Most people stick to the 8.5ft wide houses so they do not require an oversized load permit when towing but this house spoke to us with the amazingly sleek aesthetics, and the extra width made it feel like a real home to us.

About us:

We have been married for 7 years. Tommy is 37 years old from Boston and is a Registered Dietitian (nutritionist) and Life Coach. He has a Bachelors Degrees in both business and nutrition, as well as a Masters Degree in Sports Nutrition. Dewey is 35 years old from Brunswick, ME and is also a life coach. She has a Bachelors Degree in Child & Family Studies and a Masters Degree in Human Development. We have co-owned a coaching business for about 10 years and love the work we do. We coach our clients by phone which means we can live anywhere as long as we have access to a good cellular signal. We are downsizing by choice because it just feels right to us as minimalist and we're inspired by those who have already embraced the tiny house movement. We are vegan, extremely active (we love to run, swim, bike, do yoga, rollerblade, and hike), and do not drink, do drugs, or smoke. We are very quiet, polite, respectful, down to earth, easy going, and can make friends with anyone. We enjoy spending time alone but love having great friends to hang out with as well! We both drive Toyota Prius so will need to be able to park them somewhere on the property or on the street if applicable. We are obsessively neat, clean, and organized. Feel free to check out our cottage, which we sold recently to give you an idea of how neat and clean we keep our house and property (we had an acre lot for our cottage) The website is www.ostervillecottage.weebly.com. Most importantly, we have two amazing rescue dogs as you can see in the pictures above. Ollie is a 7ish year old boxer and Faith is a 5ish year old boxer/boston terrier mix. They are our children and treated as such - completely loved and spoiled as every animal should be :-) They are well trained, exceptionally clean, friendly, and quiet. Since we work from home and walk them a 100 times a day, we are usually with them. So a dog friendly property is a must!!!

About you and your land:

As stated above, a dog friendly property is a requirement. We'll need access to a 50amp dedicated electric outlet and a regular water hose spigot. The house is 12 feet wide so it will need clearance onto your property. We'll also need a good cell signal and wireless internet access on your property. We're really looking for an exceptional person (people) to host us and for land that feels like a peaceful sanctuary. We'd like a landlord that shares some similar values, and is kind, respectful, and someone we would get along with. We're looking for someplace to take care of, contribute to, and call home. We actually love the feel of country living but don't want to be too far from having access to social opportunities (as community is very important) in a larger town or city, especially since we work from home. So a decent mix of both would be ideal!

We'd love to talk more with you or anyone you know about this fun opportunity. Thank you for reading our post and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
