Oliver and Nemo

We have two handsome ginger cats, Oliver and Nemo, who are currently PAWS residents. These two are living together in harmony in one of our cat rooms. They are looking for their forever homes, and since FIV + cats can not live with non-FIV cats, they would love to go home together. Here is a little bit of information regarding adopting FIV+ cats. Please consider adopting Oliver and Nemo together, today. Even if you can only adopt one, or cannot adopt at all, please share this with friends and family.

FIV+ FAQ's

~What is FIV? FIV is an auto immune disorder. Cats that have FIV cannot fight off illnesses as well as cats without FIV.

~Can people get FIV? Nope! FIV is a species specific disease that only cats can get.

~How long does a cat with FIV live? A cat with FIV usually lives to a normal life span.

~How is FIV transmitted? FIV is transmitted between cats through bite, blood or birth. The transmission rate is very low. Transmission is most common in feral colonies that have a lot of unneutered males.

~Do FIV cats need any medicine? FIV cats don't take any regular medicines. It is important to feed an FIV cat a very healthy diet, and bring them to the vet right away if they get sick. You can also give your FIV cat vitamins and supplements to help them stay.
