Decades of experience repairing guitars and fretted/stringed instruments as my livelihood. Thousands of instruments, setup, tuned up, repaired, and have personally constructed more than 200 guitars, basses, and mandolins. Worked as THE Quality Assurance engineer in Peavey Electronics' guitar factory from 1996 thru 1999. I also hold a US Patent in acoustic amplification and have built/sold thousands of acoustic guitar pickup systems to CF Martin, St. Louis Music(Alvarez) and various aftermarket suppliers. So if you have an electric or acoustic guitar that needs a setup, peghead fixed, has a cracked top or loose brace....or needs a complete rewire including modern piezo bridge systems or even a simple pickup swap, I've done it, and can get it right the first time. All work includes a 90 day warranty on my craftsmanship.
The two most critical aspects of a "guitar setup" are: 1. Setting the nut height...and 2. Dressing/levelling the frets. If your "setup" does NOT include these two items, then you are actually getting an "action adjustment", which does not truly get the optimum playability from your instrument.
Wood changes shape, even over a short period of time, particularly on young, unseasoned wood. Consequently, I set up BRAND NEW, straight from the dealer guitars ALL THE TIME. The factories NEVER do a "correct" setup with your new instrument. Highly recommended.
