SAS BUSINESS ANALYST / PROGRAMMER

Pinnacle Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced SAS Business Analyst / Programmer for one of our Clients - a large Financial Services company, located in Detroit, MI (Southfield) for a 3 - 6 month Contract-to-Hire, fulltime, all on-site.

OVERVIEW

The Candidate will serve as a Business Analyst/Programmer that is skilled with BASE SAS/SQL programming and developing the SAS code for the implementation of a SAS Data Warehouse. Provide documentation of the technical capabilities of the SAS code, mapping the capabilities to business user requirements, and supporting the information need of the client's project. Prepare ad-hoc reporting request, documentation, and diagrams as requested.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

The perfect Candidate as SAS Business Analyst/ Programmer is to gather requirements, technical specifications and to write technical documents that define the technical requirements and data definitions of SAS Data Warehousing implementation. Identifies and recommends internal and external data sources, compiles/analysis data from multiple, cross business sources; recommends and participates in the development of complex analysis designs using statistical and or/ financial analysis, functional process documentation, comparative analysis.

The consultant must have experience with writing and creating these type of documents:
� Design Specifications Document.
� Detailed Requirements Document.
� Architectural Planning Document.
� High Level Design Specification Document.
� Business Requirements Documents (BRD).
� Functional Requirements Documents (FRD).
� Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
� Project plans aligning to the WBS.
� Data Mapping Guidelines.
� Security Design Specifications Document.
� Test Plans.
� Training Recommendations.

This position will be responsible for:
1) Gathering data requirements and designing/developing the data warehouse/ data marts.
2) Performing analytical and programming activities including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and documentation of integrating the data management solutions.


DUTIES, SKILLSETS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities the Client requires of the SAS Business Analyst/Programmer include the following, with hands-on, proven experience with SAS programming: to maintain and develop advanced SAS coding techniques and to write maximum efficient and performance optimized code.

Services may include focus on and require the Candidate/Consultant to:
1. Gather and collect requirements, technical specifications and to write technical documents that define the technical requirements and data definitions of SAS Data Management Solution implementation. Identifies and recommends internal and external data sources; compiles/analysis data from multiple; cross business sources; recommends and participates in the development of complex analysis designs using statistical and or/ financial analysis, functional process documentation, comparative analysis.
2. Provide documentation of the technical capabilities of the source to target data mappings, the capabilities to business user requirements and supporting the information need of the client's conversion project. Prepare ad-hoc reporting request, documentation, and diagrams as requested
3. Minimum of 4 years of Base SAS programming (DATA step), SQL programming (i.e., use of SQL pass-through or PROC SQL), as well as the SAS Macro language, ODS, Reporting and Summary procedures.
4. SAS DI Studio and/or Data Management Studio experience a plus.
5. SAS Data Warehousing implementation experience and experience developing technical solutions with SAS Data Integration and reporting tools in a SAS environment is a plus.
6. Proven skill in gathering and documenting user requirements and writing technical specifications and design documents.
7. Integrating and managing the data mappings from the client's data sources (mainly MS-SQL Server) to the SAS Data Warehouse using SAS Data Management Solution. Designing, developing and implementing the DI Studio job flows to load the data into SAS.
8. MS-SQL Server DBMS experience.
9. Creating Stored Processes to provide the users of the Reporting Data Mart easy access to the data.
10. Have good oral and written communication skills.
11. Lead and/or actively participate in SAS knowledge-sharing activities.
12. Must be able to read, and understand existing coding and processing to troubleshoot and resolved issues as they arise.
