Searching for Bassist for Original Progressive Rock Band ((east valley))

We have key components of an original progressive rock band in place. We are playing all original melodic yet somewhat progressive, and at times hard-driving music... definitely a bit technical and challenging but fun: Sort of progressive meets hard rock with melodic vocals. We are currently rehearsing in the East Valley and have a PA already set-up and active. The range of material is vast and the amount is plentiful.

We are searching for a creative, talented and proficient bassist who can pull-off a bit of a Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, Tony Levin, Tal Wilkenfeld and/or Chris Squire type (among others) of dynamic bass playing to help complete our band.

I mentioned these players as an influence. . . as a reference point; not with the intention that someone is expected to perform at that caliber, but to indicate that we are interested in musicians who are seriously looking to be in a band that sounds dynamic and tight; with instrument arrangements that complement each other. That said, we need musicians that are proficient with their instrument and are adaptive to learning and working out material together and on their own. The musical equipment utilized (bass and amp) also needs to be at performance level... not marginal.

This project requires an investment of time and effort. It is the only way to perform all of this music proficiently. We usually rehearse twice a week, including Saturday from around 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and one weekday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This choice of weekday evening is flexible, but currently is is Tuesday evening.

We want all members willing to practice diligently on their own time and also while we are together. We're striving to make all the parts of a song tight and intense and thus making them even more fun and rewarding to rehearse and perform live in front of an audience.

Above all we don't want big egos, negative attitudes, drama or conflicts to get in the way of the music. If rehearsing or learning material is a "chore" to you and/or interferes with your job/career/social/family life, then perhaps you don't truly have the time or dedication to actually commit to such a project and therefore should not even reply to this message. I don't say this to be harsh, but some people think that all you have to do is go on stage and perform. There is time and work invested in any group that sounds terrific BEFORE they walk on to any stage.

So, if you are truly looking for a substantial music project to really bring your playing up to the next level while enjoying the results, send a reply and tell us about yourself, equipment, goals and availability to rehearse.
