I am sitting in front of this computer, wondering what is in store for me. After renting a room for the past 7 years, I recently learned my roommate is selling this house and I must move by May 31st. If you or someone you know has a room for rent, furnished/unfurnished, with access to a kitchen and laundry, max. rent of $450.00 including utilities, and naturally I will pay security deposit as requested. I am open to ideas and willing to move within a 25 mile radius of Vancouver, WA.

What can I tell you about myself? I am a 65 year-old divorced, straight man, naval veteran, on social security and naturally can provide proof of income. I am honest, responsible, clean, quiet and optimistic. To supplement my income I do odd jobs such as dog walking, proofreading, landscaping, carpet cleaning, farm help, weekly shopping and care giving for seniors on occasion. I own reliable transportation, enjoy local activities, the arts, camping, fishing, bird watching, and socializing outside of the home with friends and family. Tend to lean progressive, am not religious, mind my own business, and am financially responsible, so the rent will be paid on time. I clean up after myself as well as common areas, and respect other people's privacy, space, and personal boundaries.

Most people think of me as easy-going, friendly, love animals, have none myself, 420 friendly, seldom drink, and have an off-beat sense of humor. Love to read, do crossword puzzles, enjoy Jeopardy, gardening, playing cards and taking road trips.

Originally from CA, I was a social worker specializing in foster care, so my fingerprints are on file with the DOJ. I have no alcohol, drug, or criminal history and rental, as well as personal references and background check are available. I was laid off in 2008 and moved here after learning from the Casey Institute in Portland that my granddaughter was born blind. She is now 7 years old and I am part of her support system, spending weekly time with her at school functions, and providing occasional childcare sometimes, strictly in my son's home.

If all of this sounds like something you could help me with, or you could refer me to a veteran's housing program, I would really appreciate it. I am prepared to move as soon as I find something. Please pass this information on. I'm actually into talking with people, so please, no texts.
