To start off let me introduce myself.
Im Nichole, I am a single hard working mother of a beautiful little girl who I adore dearly.
I have been sick for over a year and the drs could never figure out the true cause of what was going on with my body. I started off with a rash that lead to swelling in my feet, face, etc. which landed me in the hospital for 3 days. They then did tons of testing and a kidney biopsy which diagnosed me with Systemic Nephritis Lupus stage 4&5.
For those of you who are unaware of what Nephritis Lupus is its inflammation of the kidney that is caused by systemic lupus erythematous (SLE). Also called lupus, SLE is an autoimmune disease. With lupus, the body's immune system targets its own body tissues. Lupus nephritis happens when lupus involves the kidneys. Their is no cure for lupus, just treatment so this is a battle I will FIGHT the rest of my life.
Through all the struggles, pain, dark thoughts, and hopelessness.. I am still fighting this and they will hopefully find a treatment plan to help me get on the right track to feeling like myself again. Since I am on Medicaid my lab work is maxed out for the year so the lab I do every 2 weeks is straight out of pocket, only 6 of my medications are covered so I pay over $100 a month on them alone. I'm not sure how insurance companies/drug companies expect the middle class to afford what they need when costs are so high?
Although, times are tough and money is tight I keep my faith in God. I know he is watching over me and my daughter providing us what we need. I am now working just part time due to this disease at the moment and since working for a small business that does not offer sick pay I am in a financial struggle. Any amount would help me even toiletries, food, sz 6 girls clothes and would never be forgotten. Hopefully one day they will have a cure to Lupus and all other types of autoimmune diseases!
