We have a 65 year history. Our success has been the result of superior instructors with one mission. Our goal is and always has been to provide excellence in music education. We make sure our students learn to play (or sing), read music, realize their full potential, become excellent musicians, and have fun doing it. Of course, artist lessons are available for more advanced students.
Our tuition is very reasonable, we have beautiful studios, Steinway and Baldwin Grands and Yamaha Consoles, and offer recitals at Steinway Piano Gallery. We are members of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, American College of Musicians
Colleen Smirl has increased her availability. She now teaches exclusively for Townsend Music School. She took lessons at Townsend Music School throughout childhood, and has a Bachelor of Music degree from Webster University. She is a virtuoso pianist, vocalist, and flutist. Mrs. Smirl taught for Townsend Music School for 9 years previously as a part time teacher before becoming full time this year. As with all of our instructors, Mrs. Smirl teaches beginning students as well as advanced students. She is, to put it simply, an awesome teacher and a wonderful role model. Mrs. Smirl teaches piano, voice and flute.
Timothy Eshing has also increased his availability. He is now teaching for Townsend Music School full time. Timothy studied viola throughout his years at Parkway as a student and went on to obtain a Masters Degree in music composition. He has taught for us for over 4 years and has been extremely successful. He is well liked by his students and is very effective at inspiring and motivating them. Not only is he a virtuoso violist and violinist, he is also a wonderful pianist and guitarist. Tim's mother is the music teacher at Belreive Elementary in Parkway.
Tim was best friends with Mr. Townsend's nephew as they grew up. His music teacher's at school remember him very well (teachers always remember students who excel at music) and were excited to hear he has joined our staff. We are extremely proud to have Timothy Eshing on our staff. He teaches VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO, PIANO and GUITAR.
Three of our instructors have Masters Degrees in music, and all of our instructors have Bachelor of Music Degrees.
But more importantly, we know how to teach, and we use successful methods.
