The apartment building itself (The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia) is brand new (it was built in 2014). It has a host of amenities for the residents to use, including a pool, a 24 hour fitness center, a tech center with computers and a free printer, and a game room with vintage arcade games with the coin slots disabled for free play, as well as a pool table. There are also propane barbecues in the courtyard for residents to use. The entire building is 100% smoke free, so you can't smoke anywhere, not even on the balconies. Dogs and cats are allowed, however they do charge an extra monthly fee for pets. There are no weight restrictions, but there are some breed restrictions for dogs. The building has a parking garage that is connected directly to the building on each level, and both the garage and the building itself are access controlled.

The apartment I'm planning to rent is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with kitchenette (it comes with a refrigerator/freezer, electric oven and stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and garbage disposal). Each bedroom has a walk-in closet and its own bathroom. There are outlets to connect cable TV/Internet in each bedroom and the living room. In addition, the apartment comes with its own washer and dryer. We also have a balcony. The apartment building is located right across the street from the Columbia Mall and all of its shopping and dining options, and within easy walking distance of the Merriweather Post Pavilion. You can also walk to the nearby Lake Kittamaqundi with surrounding entertainment and dining options. The area also has numerous hiking trails and bike paths.
