I had been renting my basement out but realized that I would do better moving into the basement area and renting out the entire upstairs house to someone instead. The basement would be a separate living area for myself and not shared. I am in the process of putting a shower and kitchenette in the basement but for the next month the kitchen and shower would be shared upstairs. During this time rent would be reduced $200. After I'm done you'd have the entire house to yourself as the basement has a separate entrance and rent would go to $1400.
