While the bedroom itself doesn't get much daylight, it has excellent recessed lighting, and is just off a large colorful and carpeted sunlit kitchen, study, and utility area with a huge window looking out onto gardens. Clean shared bathroom upstairs with jacuzzi.
This is a beautiful passive solar home, full of sun and surrounded by gardens including a pool and next to acres of woods and running trails. It is less than 10 minutes from Hartford and West Hartford. My three children (ages 12,12,14) and I live here (as well as other housemates), so housemates must be OK with kids around some of the time (I have shared custody w/their father). So far the kids greatly enjoy the people who share the home, and vice versa. We have a black Lab, will be getting a cat, and a big garden. We heat with a wood stove in Winter and it is very cozy. Looking to share this warm and welcoming home with others who will appreciate it and contribute their own warmth and personality!
If you live here it is your home too. Full access to kitchen/living area etc. There is wireless for easy internet access, cable in every room, full use of pool/gardens/ decks etc.
The closest bus stop is a mile away.
The room is furnished, though we can remove all but the bed if you have your own furniture. Utilities are $95/month additional. This includes elec, heat, water, pool, internet, cable (HD, xfinity). No smokers please. (Sorry, no flexibility on that at all.)
A good match would be someone who has some of the following qualities: is interested in the people around him/her; values living with others; has fairly quiet habits (most of the time, anyway); is interested in current events and has progressive politics; doesn't cook a lot of meat at home; values a sense of community/sharing a home with other people, doesn't wear a lot of perfume/cologne. We are not in a position to accept pets; nor is there room for any more children, and this room is for one person only. The environment here is friendly and relaxed.
Three references required. First and second month rent plus one month for security deposit required upon move-in. A deposit is required to hold the room. 30 day notice, but prefer person who intends a longer/indefinite stay. Can do video walk-through/skype interview if long-distance needed.
