This posting is for a room in a lovely colorful house near Alberta and Mississippi areas in North East Portland.
$800/mo. gets you your own BEDROOM, your own LIVING ROOM, and full use of empty BASEMENT. This place requires friendship and coordination to work, because the bathroom is railroad-style share, but it is really an awesome, colorful creative place to live.
HOUSE
There's something lovely about this old house. It's located near Albert St. and Vancouver Ave., wonderfully positioned in the heart of NE Portland. It's an old wooden turn of the century home with a large basement and a decent garden area that surrounds the house. So if you like places with great energy and gardening, this could be a good spot. As you can see by the pictures, the interior of the house has its own unique colors and makes for a really creative space.
BEDROOM
10X14 with high ceilings, but there is a wardrobe in it as you can see in the pictures, so that takes up a little space. Of course, it's useful. There will be no furniture in the bedroom shown, it will be empty.
LIVING ROOM
14X14 Big windows, open space, this is your office / creative zone and you can do what you want as long as you keep it clean. It's "your space" that comes with your rent, as long as you keep it clean. This room is shown with a yoga mat. It will be empty as well.
BASEMENT
There's a large basement that is not in use, so feel free to take advantage as well. This is a shared space, but I'm not using it at all at the moment. I may use it for some storage at some point, but it's big. Ping pong table maybe? Idk...
SHARED KITCHEN / BATHROOM
The bathroom is unfortunately accessed through your room. This is tough on privacy, and I try to work with that. It's been totally fine with my current housemate, and we just have to like and trust each other. Despite this drawback, the advantages of the house's location and space are enormous. We can talk about it. I'm not a crazy bathroom maven.
The kitchen is shared a shared space that has a stove, oven, fridge and sink. Everything works just fine, even the classic old stove.
ME (YOUR HOUSEMATE)
You'd be sharing the house with me. I'm a full-time music producer and musician. I live on the second floor of the house. I'm super friendly, polite, reasonable and fun. I like the arts and I love life. I eat ok and I exercise a little, and I write and make music often. Because I produce music, there are times when the house has to be quiet for recording. I would let you know about these times using a calendar. Because I play different instruments including drums, you will hear noise from upstairs. I don't play heavy metal or anything, but there will be occasional jams, practices, and general music-making going on regularly.
CLEANLINESS
I'm not a super clean person in my own space, but any common space has to be kept completely clean. So my bedroom gets a little crazy but I make sure the rest of the house is looking fine. Same story for you.
Utilities
Expect to pay $70 - $120 in utilities depending on the season (Winter being on the higher side). This includes water, gas, power, trash, and internet.
