I'm a 50-something sculptor looking for a modest live/work space in Seattle. Have a grant to cover a one year's lease.
A basement or garage space would be fine. A place to set up some small bench tools ( I currently work in wood). And it's okay if it's a little rough. A place to park a small pick-up truck would be nice but not necessary.

My 'day-gig' is the restoration & maintenance of older houses. Mostly painting & fixing damaged plaster/drywall & old architectural detail & trim, & wood sash-work. And would be willing to part barter such work for the right place. Have done lots of work for people who expect a very high standard of finish. Have also done a lot of the other old house things; carpentry, plumbing & electrical fixture swaps and installs etc.

Recent projects include a window & trim restoration on a 1907 house in Wallingford, several houses painted (one both inside & out), install to finish of a master bath including sound-wall (selective demolition, shower & sink installs, cabinets, electrical fixtures, etc.) Walls finished flat so that no texture was needed. In the year before: a cedar deck with pergola, 200 yards of cedar fence, etc...

Personal things:
For about 6 years before '12 I lived in & was caretaker for a large house shared by 7 artists & musicians. Did a lot of gardening there including a 3 stage worm & composting set up of my own design. And a bunch of the old-house things; restored old wood windows, plaster walls & ceilings, &several old fir floors refinished. Also ground-work & pavings (flagstones & brick raised beds). And a large gateway.
Some time before that I worked at a dot.com but got tired of it & decided to re-focus on my own work. I'm sort of an 'urban hermit' type, quiet & focused on my own work &studies. But I don't mind the creative noise of others. I'm no complete introvert. Just read & write & think a lot...

Like gardening and trees, & have quite a lot of experience with both. Like animals but have no pets of my own.
Don't smoke cigarettes but tolerant of those who do. Occasional herb user, light drinker.
