Beware of ISO ads for dogs

There are dog flippers and dog fighters on craigslist looking for free or cheap dogs. They are posting ISO ads. Please screen potential adopters carefully and have them sign contracts.

There are so many dogs in shelters, rescues and humane societies being put to sleep because they can't find homes for them. No kill shelters are overwhelmed and can't take in any more dogs for lack of space or lack of foster homes. Look at how many dogs are on https://www.petfinder.com Why would anyone need to place an ad for a dog with so many dogs in need on craigslist and petfinder.com and dog pounds?

Many of these ads are looking for free dogs. How will they afford to feed and vet a dog properly if they can't afford a fee?
**** If you can't afford the fee, apply to a local rescue and become a dog foster home. You will be saving a dog and it is free. No cost to you. They provide food and vetting. You just care for the dog.***

There are laws set up against flippers. They are required to file taxes as personal income. If they are not, it is tax evasion and should be reported. If you have been taken by a flipper or are taken in the future, please report them.

They have been known to not bring dogs to the vet even if they are sick, sell sick dogs , drop them out in the street if they can't sell them, keep them caged and abuse the dogs. Also they sell dogs to dog fighters. They post ads (ISO) looking for free/cheap dogs and make up some sob story as to why they need a free/cheap dog.

TO DETER A DOG FLIPPER OR PREDATOR FROM GETTING YOUR DOG:
+ charge fee high enough that they won't be interested in your dog. List your fee as firm.
+ require adopter to sign a contract that they will return the dog if they can't keep it and that you can check on the dog in the future.
+ do a home visit and check their ID for name and address verification.
If they don't want to sign a contract, they do not get the dog. If they don't like your fee tell them to move on the next ad. Please help get dog flippers and other predators off craigslist. If you suspect something is fishy about an ad (posting) please flag it (prohibit button).
