Looking for VB PLAYERS with at least SEVERAL years EXPERIENCE who would like to join our weekly outdoor court group, preferably on a REGULAR basis. You MUST have experience in playing volleyball otherwise rallies become non-existent and all the fun takes a leave. We play on an outdoor concrete court at Kaimuki District Park which is bordered by 10th, 11th and Waialae Avenues. We generally start at 7:00 in the evening and play till 9:15 pm, sometimes later. We are looking for players who know how to play, preferably with experience at the club and high school level or who have played in other leagues. If you played for a college or university (not including intra-murals), you are probably too good for us. We encourage 3 hits and discourage jungle ball play. We play 4-2 middle-front sets and everyone hits. Older players with experience ARE welcome as our group is composed of players from a large range of ages. If you are currently in high school and have played for several years, you are also welcome. We hit at the net which is usually set up close to 8 ft to reduce the chance of facials. We would like to play competitively yet have FUN in a SAFE manner. No Aku's in the net or dangerous crossings. We regularly play with one net so NEWCOMERS MUST CONTACT US IN ADVANCE as we most likely cannot accommodate a sudden influx of too many players. You must know how to take turns. If there are more than 12 players you must take your turn and sit out once in a while. This is a family friendly atmosphere in which some players bring their young children to watch or play near the side court. NO profanity, NO alcohol and NO attitude. Shoes are a must. This group has actually been going on for over 25 years, with some of the adult children of players continuing the tradition.
