Music Collective looking for singers and jammers

Hi,

You may have seen my message from a few weeks ago. Thanks for checking this out out! So far we have a handful of great players, yet, we are continuing to seek more and therefore here we go:

We are continuing to look for keys, especially the classic hammond/rhodes/wurlitzer sounds based in the blues and rock'n'roll. A keys player with a good ear for jamming.

We have some great vocal talent and would love to add more. Whether it be back up or lead on particular songs. Ability to harmonize would be great.

Horns! sax, trumpet, trombone, flute....yes please!

Here is the plan:

I'm gathering a dynamic cluster of musicians to do jam sessions, shape soundscapes, and share songs that resonate within us. It is a rock music collective. Essentially we get together to have fun sharing and creating music. Don't be shy, send a reply.

All players are equal. We can all bring something to the table. Everyone can have a chance at leading and following. I like to do both.

Hear me out if you like the concept. This will run a little long so I hope you can spare 5 minutes.

Do you sing? Play the keys? Know your cello? Bang the bongos? The sax? Everything?

Rather than a typical 'band', this is more a group, or small society, of about 8-10 people. Ideally, there will be enough people at each session to get our groove going, even when two or three can't make it. Once a week sessions, we will work out a day that is the best for the majority, so far we are working with Tuesday eves.

So far we have some drums, bass, guitars, and vocals. I know a good bunch of musician friends and this is a message out to meet more, like you.

Things will start easily, like three chord grooves, stuff that won't intimidate anyone and give us space to play around. I have worked with this rhythm section for a long while and they are solid and a delight to play with. Original music and covers of favorites.

What kind of bands will we cover?

A few examples:
Sublime, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Cream, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Police, Jack Johnson, Hendrix, Beatles, The Black Keys, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Bob Marley, Ben Harper....etc, etc.

Style wise I am thinking rock and roll with flavor bits from blues, jazz, funk, r&b, groove, a little latin, a little reggae, soul, alternative, ambience, country, acoustic chime and a dollop of psychedelia. The music we will make will defy easy categorization but it will move, rock, jam and take people on a sonic journey. Most people should be able tap their feet and often dance to our music. It will appeal to many and not just a select few. Our music will come from a good place and be kind spirited.

I am not looking into anything too far reaching like dissonant fusion, or death metal, gangsta rap, etc. I appreciate those genres existing but that isn't where we are going.

The age (other than being over 21), gender, looks, ethnicity, school of training, of the players is irrelevant but it IS essential for people to be kind-hearted, able to have fun, play well with others, and able to learn. Egos will be checked at the door. Players must at least have intermediate mastery if their instrument(s) and be able to communicate musically (for example know the difference between a major and a minor chord or progression). It would be cool to have a mix of ear players (like me) and people who can read music.

We need more vocalists. This will be the big challenge recruitment wise as most music listeners focus on the singers. They are the soul of the mix and the ones who send the message. It would be nice to have 4 competent singers, and at least one to two people handling the vocal sections of the songs each session. The people involved so far can carry a tune and understand note separation yet there needs to be two to three people who can take the lead. It will be best if both genders represented in the group, and I would most definitely like both on vocals.

Plenty of representation of guitars already. Haha, what's new ;) That is my main instrument. I think we have guitar covered unless you are singer/multi-instrumentalist.

We need keys (I would especially like hammond and rhodes sounds as well as piano).

We want more percussion. I have a good set of LP mini congas that are waiting to be played.

Definitely interested in horns and wind instruments.

And more, the guilds' doors are open to all those willing to 'serve the song.'

Playing first and down the line monthly gigs (or a little more) if things are going well. I have a good deal of live performance experience and it is fun to gig at a relaxed frequency. I have a day job.

I do have basic rapport built with some great venue owners, and I know others who are even more connected. This is definitely not about making money, it will come if it is meant to be. Recording is cool, too (when the time is right), and I have friends at talented studios in town.

So there we go. The wheels are already turning so come join us if it sounds good.

If you are still reading it us time for you to respond and tell me a about you, what you play, and your.
