My name is Max Klein, and I am moving to Minneapolis to start a Computer Science PhD program at UMN. Thus I am seeking a location commutable to the East Campus.
My work centers around the social algorithms of computing. My interests also include Yoga (I am instructor), editing wikipedia, cycling, feminism, vegetarianism, internet rights, and Burning Man.
I am 26 years old and I consider myself a very communal and responsible roommate. Since 2010 I have lived in a variety of cooperatives and intentional communities ranging from 8 members in an urban farm to 150 people on Kibbutz. Therefore I have learned the importance of clear open communication, cleanliness, and resource sharing. I am keen to continue sharing food purchases and domestic duties, but recognize it might happen at a smaller scale. As a quiet person I don't smoke at all, and drink moderately and infrequently. And yet as an occasional extrovert I may host a mature meal and conversation for friends every so often. I am amenable to living with cats.
Currently I live in Oakland, California, with my long-term girlfriend. She is starting Grad School as well in San Francisco, and we plan to remain together and long distance. So I will be travelling about every 3 weeks to visit, and away quite a bit during the winter and summer holidays. I'd like to set up a 6 month to 1 year lease beginning in August or September, and my employment through the University provides a steady income.
